Road Rage Driver Who Went Viral Gets License Suspended, Faces Assault Charges

The road rage driver, identified as 41-year-old Kevin Hartwell of Jacksonville, FL, has had his license suspended and now faces multiple charges including reckless driving, assault, and menacing. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Hartwell had two prior road rage incidents on file. The dashcam footage from the viral video was submitted as evidence and proved instrumental in the quick charges. The driver who filmed the encounter said he had been driving the speed limit in the right lane when Hartwell began tailgating and flashing his lights. "I just stayed calm and let my dashcam do its thing," he told local news. Hartwell's attorney issued a brief statement saying his client "regrets the incident" and is seeking anger management counseling. His court date is scheduled for next month. The unmarked officer who intervened told reporters he couldn't believe what he was seeing unfold in front of him. "In 15 years on the force, that was one of the most aggressive displays I've witnessed on the highway."
